About 60km away from Podgorica, Budva is the most visited tourist destination in Montenegro. It is a coastal city focused on elite tourism, with its top hotels, gourmet restaurants, international events and major concerts. It has a long and rich history, as can be seen from numerous monuments found in its Old Town. Some of the most popular beaches lie on the territory of its Municipality, such as Kraljičina plaža, Slovenska plaža, Mogren, Jaz etc. Since August 2008, the Jaz beach is the location of the Live Music Festival, known for major international performers such as Lenny Kravitz and Armand van Helden. Madonna and the Rolling Stones also had their concerts there. Budva has an excellent night life. Places of interest: • Citadela, the fortress, eastern part of Stari grad (the old town), along the coast. Working hours: 8am-midnight (closed during the winter). Entrance: 2 € • Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Old town • St John’s Catholic Church, Old town • Budva City Museum (Archaeological and Ethnographic), Old town. Working hours: 9am-8pm and 10am-7pm at weekends. Entrance: 1,50 € • Island of St Nicholas, opposite Budva • City-hotel Sveti Stefan : an island connected to the mainland by a narrow sandy isthmus. *At the time of printing, the complex was closed due to renovation.
